I. Introduction
1.1 Background
Citizen Action Net for Social Development (CAN) is a Cambodian local NGO works in promoting citizens’ participation, social development, and rules of law which registered with the Ministry of Interior in 29 June 2004. The core values of CAN are: gather and promote open-minded and responsible people through social networking. CAN has been supported by Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberity (FNF), Germany since 1998 through numerous activities such as: evening seminar, student forum, workshop, and youth camp in the themes of self-development, leadership, democracy, rule of law, human rights, liberalism, and market economy.
1.2 Vision and Mission
The vision of CAN is to promote living society with peace, welfare and rule of law through active participation and goodwill of every citizen.
In order to achieve such vision, CAN has several mission to be commit, those are:
- Congregate all skills to improve the social development services capacity;
- Act as a stratagem for the exchanges of ideas and for disseminating visions, information, and experiences necessary for social development;
- Perform as a catalyst in implementing a factual action plan to benefit the society.
1.3 Activities
- Organize workshop shared by different experts group in related areas
- Carry out trainings on leadership, self-development, entrepreneurship, and quality of life etc.
- Organize forum for students, teachers, local authority in
Phnom Penh - Have meeting with Core team members and other active youth groups
1.4 Membership and Management Structure
There are three types of membership: Core team member, active member and other beneficiary.
1.4.1 Criteria of membership
· be open-minded
· developed person and self-discipline
· positive thinking person
· love to work in group, and diversification
· be person who care about social benefit
